Julião Beach: a real hidden beauty

September 2023

Praia do Julião, in Ilhabela, on the north coast of São Paulo, is a small space in the archipelago for those who want peace and quiet.

Right on the seafront, there are many submerged rocks that form small natural pools, great for observing fish and other marine life - bring your snorkel! By the way, the waters are always calm and SUP is great on this beach.

Its waterfront is surrounded by Atlantic Forest, making it the perfect setting for a beautiful sunset with its fine white sands.

Access is a little hidden: Praia do Julião is just after Praia da Feiticeira, about 6 km from the ferry heading south, you'll see the entrance sign.

There is a small parking lot on site, and to get to the beach there is a light trail of about 300 meters.

Praia do Julião itself has few lodgings, one of which is Porto Atobá, just 400m from the beach. However, as it lies between the beaches of Feiticeira and Granda, it benefits from the wide range of inns on offer on these beaches.

As it's a more secluded beach, there are no kiosks, just simple stalls that appear in high season. But it's easy to say that its visitors enjoy moments of tranquillity and great contact with nature.
